Ensure maximum on-line availability of Oracle Databases and applications. Maintain system integrity and compliance with standards. Conduct tests to determine the integrity of the Oracle Databases. Perform daily and weekly maintenance tasks in production and test environments to include checking backups, reviewing alert files, and cleaning collector tables, as well as checking for invalid objects, security violations, and other application-specific violations. Create, apply, and troubleshoot scripts, procedures, and processes and engage in problem resolution. Perform technical administration of operational data store and enterprise data warehouse and manage and monitor ODS/EDW loads. Manage and monitor data storage usage, reviewing files on servers and removing any unnecessary files. Regularly monitor logs, review performance metrics, and conduct performance tuning. Clone Database instances as required. Install and test Banner, ODS, EDW, Cognos, Oracle, SQL Server, and other ERP-related patches and upgrades as necessary. Coordinate and manage a patch and upgrade release status and implementation schedule.
Will work directly with vendor representatives and support staff. Coordinate activities closely with end-users, technical staff, and project teams. Coordinate and facilitate communication and activities between staff and vendor support staff. Meet with end-users to determine information needs and Database requirements.
Create, update, and make available associated procedural documentation, process flow diagrams, work orders, records, reports, and instructions. Stay current on related technology advances and integrate technical systems with agency goals and objectives. Make recommendations to improve standards, procedures, processes, software, or equipment. Will act as a backup for other technical staff as needed.
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or a related field and three years technical experience in systems development and maintenance, technical support, and the support of complex Oracle Database management systems. Related experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Expert-level skills administering Ellucian (SunGardHE) Banner/Oracle Database management systems. Expert-level skills using PL/SQL and SQL. Experience backing up and cloning Banner Database instances and applying Banner and Oracle patches and upgrades. Experience with Oracle in a Linux environment. Experience with Banner 8, Oracle 10g and 11g, Oracle Internet Application Server, WebLogic, Oracle Enterprise Manager, Oracle Warehouse Builder, and Linux.
